ISLAMABAD – The joint opposition in National Assembly on Tuesday staged walkout in protest against absence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to explain his position on the Panama leaks.
The opposition demanded debate in parliament over Panama leaks and called for the prime minister to come to clarify his position in the aftermath of Panama leaks. Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid told the National Assembly that the prime minister will attend proceedings of the house on Friday and reply to questions raised by the opposition.
Rashid was replying to a point of order raised by Leader of the Opposition, Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah. Shah led a walkout of the opposition parties in the National Assembly, demanding the prime minister’s immediate address to the Parliament’s lower house.
While talking to media persons, Shah said the PM must clear position and respond to the opposition’s demands regarding judicial investigations into Panama Papers. “We don’t want any confrontation but the prime minister should clear his point of view and take parliament into confidence on his assets and tax details,” he demanded.
