LAHORE: A rape victim girl Saima attempted to commit suicide here on Tuesday, by setting herself on fire for not getting provided justice and the police applying delaying tactics, a private channel reported.
Saima, hailing from Arifwala, was gang raped. Despite her repeated petitions and even notice of higher authorities, the police failed to detain the criminals. She set herself on fire by sprinkling petrol outside the Punjab Assembly in the provincial capital.
The people present near the scene foiled the suicide attempt and shifted her to hospital. She alleged that the police was intentionally using delaying tactics to arrest the influential culprits as they had allegedly accepted huge sum of money for protecting them in the said case.
