GHALLANAI: After failing to hand over an accused involved in the killing of a Khasadar person under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontiers Crimes Regulation (FCR), the political administration in Mohmand Agency on Monday withheld certain privileges and incentives to Tarakzai tribe.
Announcing the decision, Assistant Political Agent Naveed Akbar Khan imposed restriction on issuance of computerised national identity card (CNIC), passports and domiciles to people belonging to the tribes, along with other incentives and privileges. The decision was taken during a grand jirga of the elders of the Tarakzai Qasimkhel tribe held in Ghallanai, headquarters of Mohmand Agency.
Speaking on the occasion, the APA said the decision was taken after the failure of the Tarakzai tribe to hand over the accused involved in the killing of the Khassadar force’s Subedar Naveed Khan and a member of the Frontier Constabulary that took place in the area inhabited by the tribe.
He said the tribe had failed to fulfill its responsibility under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR). He reminded everyone that unknown persons had killed Subedar Naveed Khanand an FC soldier in the Bhai Kor area. He added that the administration had decided to seize the agricultural land, shops and other commercial areas owned by the tribe in a three-kilometre radius of the crime scene.
Tribal elders including Lal Badshah Tarakazi, Malik Misal Khan, Malik Hanif Khan and others urged the political administration to set the arrested tribesmen free and grant them time till Eid-ul-Fitr to hand over the accused. A 10-memebr committee was formed on the demand of the tribal elders to implement the decision taken during the jirga.
