KARACHI: The federal anti-corruption court on Thursday granted interim bail to former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in five cases pertaining to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
According to sources, Gilani appeared before the court on Thursday morning. During the proceedings, the court stated that indictment was ready for the three cases pertaining to the TDAP scandal. Gilani’s lawyer told the judge they had not yet been provided with relevant papers to which the judge ordered for their provision.
Later, the court granted an interim bail to Gilani in five cases and to his aide Muhammad Zubair in three cases. Gilani’s interim bail was accepted at Rs 100,000.
Later talking to the media, the former prime minister said he respected the courts and therefore he was facing all cases in person. He also denied all accusations of financial embezzlement and corrupt practices levelled against him.
